Okolo šiestej došli výletníčky do školy.
"Poďme zložiť veci ku mne do izby a nahlásiť madam Rosemarine svoj návrat," navrhla trénerka a vzala Ai košík.
"A kde budeme opekať?"
"Môžeme u mňa, mám tam kozub."
Išli teda za Rosemarine. Beatrice vošla do jej pracovne, Ai opatrne za ňou. S riaditeľkou nemala zrovna najlepší vzťah a dnes jej nechcela dať žiadnu príležitosť na to, aby si na nej vybila zlosť.
"Skečna Morganová, vidím, že ste ju ustrážila, klobúk dolu," povedala riaditeľka sarkasticky a dívala sa na Ai, tá sa začervenala a odvrátila pohľad.
"Ai, počkaj vonku!" prikázala jej a tá sa nedobrovoľne odšuchtala na chodbu. Opatrne za sebou zavrela, oprela sa o stenu a škrípala zubami. Tá riaditeľka, čo si o sebe vlastne myslí. Ako by som bola fakt nezvládnutelná. Ona tak má čo hovoriť, protivná karieristka! A hovoriť takto o mne pred ňou... Predstavila si, ako riaditeľkinu hlavu drví na kašu a nahnevane kopla do steny.
Na trénerku čakala asi dvadsať minút a keď Beatrice konečne vyšla, Ai vyzerala už dosť otrávene. Tá sa na ňu ale usmiala, vzala ju za ruku a všetko bolo v poriadku.
"Tak a môžeme ísť opekať."
"Čo chcela riaditeľka?"
"Niečo, čo sa netýka takých malých zvedavcov ako si ty," vykrútila sa a Ai sa už ďalej nepýtala. Došli späť do trénerkinej izby a Ai si ju skúmavo poobzerala. Priestranná, svetlá, pekne zariadená izba, nechýbalo pár drobností ako záclonky, svetlé fialkové závesy, dečky na kreslách či fialovkastý koberček pri posteli. Celá izba bola ladená do fialova a vládol v nej poriadok, oveľa krajšia ako jej izba, ale aj tak mala pocit, že je trochu neosobná. Bude jej ju musieť vyzdobiť. Lebo Ai možno na to nevyzerala, ale zbožňovala pekne zariadené miestnosti a rada ich okrášlovala.
Trénerka prerušila jej úvahy, keď jej prikázala založiť oheň vo veľkom kozube zo siveého kameňa. Taká velká rímsa a trénerka tam nemá ani jednu sošku či obrázok, premýšľala ale radšej sa pustila do úlohy. Oheň zapálila rýchlo, doma to robila toľkokrát... Trénerka zatiaľ pripravila dva kovové ražne na opekanie a zamyslene, akoby sama pre seba, rozprávala:
"Mala som s touto izbou šťastie. Je jedna z pár väčších a aj kozub je jedinečný, ostatné učiteľky skoro všetky majú izby bez kozuba," vzala dva vankúše a položilaich pred kozub. Obe si sadli na vankúše, napichli si jablká na ražeň a dali ich nad oheň.
"Mám rada opekanie, povedala Ai a oprela si hlavu o trénerkino plece. Dívala sa do ohňa.
"Aj ja. Pečené jablká sú moc dobré, hlavne poliate tekutým karamelom," povedala zasnene, "ale do teba by som nikdy nepovedala, že máš rada niečo ako výlety a opekanie..."
"Prečo nie?" povedala Ai začudovane.
"Nezdala si sa mi na to dosť trpezlivá..." zahovorila Beatrcice rýchlo.
"Čo bude dneska na večeru?"
"Neviem, si hladná?"
Potriasla hlavou.
"Len chcem vedieť."
Prvé jablká boli hotové, tak ich opatrne dali dolu a napichli si ďalšie.
"Sú ešte horúce," šťuchla Ai do svojho jablka, "ale ten kozub tak príjemne hreje," zapriadla a opäť zaujala svoju polohu s hlavou na Beatricinom pleci.
"Ai?"
"Hm?"
"Chcem sa s tebou o niečo rozprávať."
"Kľudne. O čo ide?"
"Rosemarine, totiž riaditeľka," opravila sa rýchlo, "mi povedala, že ti mám dohovoriť," Ai prekvapene zdvihla hlavu a čudne sa na ňu zadívala, "neviem ako prišla na to, že práve ja, nie som ten správny človek," zdvihla trénerka ospravedlňujúco ruky, ale pokračovala, "nemám s tým nič, ale musím ju rešpektovať. Viem, o čo ide, chápeš. Len neviem prečo. Poviem ti pravdu, trochu som sa obávala, keď som ťa mala strážiť. Ale nebolo vôbec prečo. Si skvelé dievča, ku ktorému mi proste nič podobné nejde, chápeš? Tak potom prečo..."
"Ai odložila palicu z ohňa a pozrela na ňu pohľadom, ktorý Beatrice nevedela identifikovať. Nič nevravela.
"No tak, chce ti len pomôcť. Snáď mi to môžeš aspoä vysvetliť."
Zakrútila nesúhlasne hlavou, tak sa Beatrice spýtala miernejšie.
"Čo je s tebou?"
Ai vstala a chcela utiecť, ale trénerka ju šikovne chytila za zápästie. Ai sa jej snažila vytrhnúť, vzpierala sa ako zvieratko v pasci úplne bez rozmyslu, ale ona ju držala pevne. Po niekolkominutovom boji to vzdala, dívala sa do zeme.
"Pustite ma, prosím," povedala ticho, ale dôrazne.
"Tak prestaň vyvádzať!"
"Neviem prečo sa do mňa všetci starajú," vlasy, ktoré vždy nosievala voľne spustené, jej teraz zakrývali tvár. Voľnou rukou si ich odhrnula stranou a uslzenými očami pozrela na Beatrice, "Je to môj život a ja si s ním môžem robiť, čo chcem."
"A prečo chceš toto?"
"Vy o mne nič neviete, tak sa do toho nestarajte," zvýšila hlas, "pusťte ma, prosím!"
"Pustím ťa, ak mi sľúbiš, že prestaneš vyvádzať, ukľudníš sa a normálne sa pozhovárame!"
"Každý by sa iba zhováral. Až všetci prestanete konečne rozpitvávať môj život, dajte mi vedieť," ale poslušne sa usadila späť na zem. Trénerka jej pustila ruku a usadila sa na kraj postele. Ruky si zložila do lona a dívala sa z okna.
"Pozri, nechcem ti nijak ublížiť, dúfam, že je ti to jasné. Ide o to, že veľa ľudí na škole je za to, aby si odišla. Vraj si nezvládnuteľná a robíš problémy. Nie je to tu nijaký konzervatívny inštitút, ale základné morálne zásady sa dodržiavať musia, a takisto platné pravidlá. Takže na to skús myslieť!"
"To kvôli Rosemarine?"
"Madam Rosemarine, Ai!"
"Prečo?"
"Myslí si o tebe len to najhoršie. Ale keby ti dohovorila ona, akurát by si trucovala.."
"Prečo ma potom nevyrazí? Prečo mi nedá pokoj?"

"To je jasné. Ale žiadne keby nie je, preto využije prvého a jediného skvelého človeka tu."
